Photography is looked upon, by most people, as just a camera and film or a camera and a CF card. This is unfortunate, indeed, because not many camera owners recognize the artistic opportunities made available to them. Moreover, few owners take advantage of the uniqueness of photography as an artistic form of self-expression.
It has been said so many times that it is not so much the brush and paint…but the artist who controls them. Similarly, it is not the camera…but the person behind it who sees and makes a picture.
Photojournalism is communication through pictures. As a press photographer one has only a brief moment of time to take that picture which tells a story of a slice of life. And it is that fraction of a second that it takes to make one picture better than another. After all…a picture is a “powerful storyteller”.
